Problems, refunds and warranties
Our final-sale rule and its one exception, how to report a problem, refunds, warranties and how disputes are settled.
Final sale and its one exception
Can I return an item I no longer want?
No. All sales are final, and a change of mind is not covered. The only exception is an item that is materially different from its listing.
When can I get my money back?
When what you receive is materially different from its listing — its photos, description, condition grade or manifest — and you report it within 7 days of delivery or collection.
What counts as "materially different" from the listing?
A real gap between what the listing showed and what you got: a different item, damage the photos did not show, missing parts it did not mention, or a worse condition than its grade.
What is not covered by a problem report?
A change of mind, a problem the listing or its photos already showed, and wear consistent with the item's condition grade.
Are Buy Now items returnable?
No — the same final-sale rule covers everything on the site, auctions and Buy Now alike, with the same one exception.
Are auction lots covered by the not-as-described rule?
Yes. A lot that is materially different from its listing or manifest can be reported within 7 days, like any other purchase.
What happens if I report a problem after the deadline?
A problem not reported within 7 days is waived, except where the law gives you more time.
Why is the window to report a problem so short?
Because condition is easiest to settle right after you receive an item. Check it straight away — at the warehouse if you collect, or when the parcel arrives.
Does the report window start when I pay or when I get the item?
When you get it: 7 days from delivery or collection. For a parcel never marked delivered, 30 days from the day it shipped.
Reporting a problem
How do I report a problem with an order?
Open the order on your orders page and press Something wrong with this order?. Choose what is wrong, describe it and attach photos.
What reasons can I choose on the problem form?
It arrived damaged; it does not match the photos; a different item arrived; parts or accessories are missing; or something else.
Can I attach photos to a problem report?
Yes, and please do: upload photos straight from your phone or computer. Photos are used only to handle that report.
Why does the form say my order is too old to return?
The reporting window has closed — 7 days after delivery or collection.
How quickly will you answer my problem report?
We reply within one business day.
What happens after I send a problem report?
You see "Request sent", and we review it. If the item is not as described, we refund what you paid for it, or give store credit if you prefer.
Will I have to send the item back?
Sometimes. We may ask you to return the item before a refund, so keep it and its packaging until we reply.
Can I report a problem at the warehouse instead?
Yes — tell our staff before you leave. It is the quickest fix, and you can still use the orders page afterwards.
Is the refund for the whole order or just the faulty item?
For the item that is not as described: we refund what you paid for that item.
What if a lot is missing a few items from its manifest?
Small differences in count or model can happen with lots. If the lot is materially different from its manifest and photos, report it with photos.
Warranties and the law
Do your items come with a warranty?
We give no written warranty on anything we sell. Some items may still carry the manufacturer's warranty, but we do not promise that any does.
What rights do I keep as a household buyer in Maryland?
Maryland law does not let a seller exclude the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness on consumer goods, so for personal or household purchases they apply, measured against the listing.
Do implied warranties apply to an item sold as untested or for parts?
They are measured against the item as its listing describes it, so a lot sold as untested or for parts is not promised to work.
Do I get warranty rights if I buy for my business or to resell?
No. For business and resale buyers, items are sold as is, with all faults, and the warranty disclaimer applies in full.
What is an implied warranty?
An unwritten promise created by state law: that a product will do what it is supposed to do (merchantability), and suits a purpose the seller recommended it for (fitness).
What should I check about a manufacturer's warranty on a discounted item?
Ask the manufacturer how long it lasts, what it covers, and whether it applies to a returned or resold unit — some warranties depend on registration or where you bought.
What if an item I bought turns out to be recalled?
Tell us and we will refund it. We do not knowingly sell recalled products.
Complaints and disputes
Who do I contact with a complaint about my order?
Our support team, at support@dealsdmv.com or from the contact page, with your order number and what happened. We aim to resolve complaints within 3 business days.
How are legal disputes with DealsDMV resolved?
After 60 days of trying to settle it together, by binding individual arbitration with the American Arbitration Association, or in small claims court — not in a class action.
Can I opt out of arbitration?
Yes, within 30 days of first agreeing to the Terms: email support@dealsdmv.com with your name, your account email and the words "I opt out of arbitration".
What do I have to do before starting arbitration?
Send us a signed notice by email to support@dealsdmv.com with your name, account email, what happened and what you want. We then both try to settle it for 60 days.
Who pays the arbitration fees?
You pay no more toward the American Arbitration Association's fees than its Consumer Rules set for a consumer; we pay the rest.
Where would an arbitration hearing take place?
By video or phone, or in person in the county where you live or in Prince George's County, Maryland — your choice.
How long do I have to bring a legal claim?
One year after the claim arises, unless a consumer-protection law or your state's law allows longer.
Which state's law governs a purchase from DealsDMV?
Maryland law and the Federal Arbitration Act — while the consumer-protection rights of your own state that cannot be given up still apply.
