Shipping and delivery

How shipping is priced, checking a price by ZIP code, where we ship, tracking a parcel, and what to do if it is late, damaged or missing.

Shipping costs

How much is shipping?

It depends on the parcel and where it is going. Shipping is quoted by the carrier for your address and shown at checkout before you pay.

Can I see the shipping price before adding an item to my cart?

Yes. On the product page, enter your 5-digit ZIP code in the shipping box and press Check price for the carrier's price to your area.

Why did the shipping price at checkout differ slightly from the estimate?

The product-page estimate is priced to your ZIP code; checkout quotes your full address, and a carrier can add a small residential charge for a particular house.

Is the shipping estimate a guess?

No. It is the real carrier price for the item's real box, from the same source the checkout charges from — only the final address can move it a little.

Why does the shipping price change when I pick another option of a product?

Each size or pack of a product can ship at its own weight, so the estimate stands only for the option it was asked about.

Why does the shipping box say "Enter a 5-digit ZIP code"?

The estimate needs a US ZIP code of exactly five digits. Type it and press Check price again.

Is shipping priced on the real weight and size of the item?

Yes. Items that ship carry their measured weight and box size, and the carrier prices that box.

Do you offer free shipping?

Shipping is charged at the carrier's price for your parcel. The free way to get an item is to collect it from our Brentwood warehouse.

Is shipping cost taxed in Maryland?

No. The carrier's charge is stated on its own line and Maryland does not tax it.

Where we ship

Do you ship outside the United States?

No. We sell to, and ship to, addresses in the United States only.

Do you ship to every US state?

We ship to addresses across the United States; the carrier's quote at checkout shows the price to yours.

Which items can be shipped?

Only items and lots marked for shipping. A listing says whether it ships, is collection only, or offers both.

What does "Ships or pickup" mean on a lot?

You choose: have the lot shipped to you, or collect it free from our warehouse.

What does "Shipping only" mean on a lot?

That lot is posted to you and cannot be collected from the warehouse.

Which carriers do you use?

Parcels go through our shipping service, which books major carriers. Checkout shows the carrier and service for each rate you can pick.

Do you check my address before shipping?

Yes. Addresses are checked with our shipping service before a label is bought, so a typo is caught early.

What if I typed my delivery address wrong?

Contact us as soon as you notice. A parcel sent to the address you gave counts as delivered to you, so the sooner we know, the better.

Delivery times and tracking

How soon will my order ship?

Within the time the listing states, or within 30 days of payment if none is stated. If we cannot, we tell you and you may cancel for a full refund of anything not shipped.

When will my parcel arrive?

The carrier gives a delivery estimate once it ships. Delivery dates are the carrier's estimates, not promises.

How do I track my parcel?

Your order page shows the carrier, the tracking number and a tracking link, and the shipping email carries the same.

Will you email me when my order ships?

Yes, with the carrier, the tracking number and a link to follow the package.

Will I be told when my parcel is delivered?

Yes. We email you when the carrier marks it delivered, with a link to your order and receipt.

Could my order arrive in more than one parcel?

Yes. Items can ship separately, and each parcel has its own tracking on your order.

What if you cannot ship my order in time?

We tell you, and you can cancel for a full refund of anything you paid for that has not shipped.

Damaged or missing parcels

My item arrived damaged. What do I do?

Report it from your orders page within 7 days of delivery, with photos of the item and the packaging. We review it like any other problem report.

My parcel never arrived. How long do I have to report it?

30 days from the day it was shipped. Carriers can take a week or more to call a parcel lost, so the window is longer than for other problems.

Tracking says delivered but I cannot find my parcel. What now?

Check with neighbours and around the delivery spot, then report it from your orders page. A parcel delivered to the address you gave counts as delivered to you.

Should I keep the box if my item arrives damaged?

Yes. Photograph the item and the packaging for your report, and keep both until we reply in case we ask for them.

Parcel size and parcel theft

What is dimensional weight?

A way carriers price parcels by size as well as weight: length × width × height, divided by a set factor. You pay for whichever is greater, that figure or the real weight.

Why does a large, light box cost so much to ship?

Carriers charge for the space a parcel takes up, not only its weight, so a bulky box is billed as if it were heavier. That is why every item we ship has its box size measured.

How can I stop parcels being stolen from my porch?

Have them go where they will not sit outside — a parcel locker, a post office or a neighbour — or keep them out of view. Collecting from our warehouse skips the doorstep altogether.

How common is package theft?

Common: one 2019 estimate put stolen or missing parcels in the US at more than 1.7 million a day, and about 19% of families have a package stolen each year.

Do doorbell cameras stop package theft?

Not reliably. Cameras made some thieves feel more at risk, but frequent offenders were less put off, and video on its own did not appear to deter theft.
